borscht recipe

Borscht isn't ordinary soup. This's zen. It's your friend or brother or your boy-freind/girl-freind.
When you eat it, you think "mmmm... mmm.. mmm" and many other clever thinks.
If you want cook this you must find russian or ukrainian wife, or follow my direction.
So, let's do it!


you need
:
saucepan (4 liter)
  • meat (beef) - 2 lbs
  • beets - 0.8 lbs
  • potatoes - 1 lbs
  • cabbage - 0.6 lbs
  • carrots - 0.4 lbs
  • onion - 0.4 lbs
  • tomato paste (not fresh tomato, only tomato paste! It is very important!) - 3 soup spoons
  • garlic - 3 cloves
  • 3 bay leafs
  • salt, pepper and greens
When you have wonderful Slavic wife, you shouldn't buy this, your wife will make it on your lawn... And cow, certainly. She likes doing it.

Else you can go tothe market and buy thats all. But it not very interesting, indeed.

direction:

  1. Put in the saucepan the meat. Add water and cook the meat 1.5 hours. Until your (cows certainly) meat is cooked you may see any russian film, but i think it should be "Love and Pigeons" (lubov i golubi) or "The Cranes Are Flying" (letyat zhuravli). No, you don't understanded why russian peoples likes borscht, but you will know how much they may love usualy. If you don't like russian movies, you may make beetroot dressing when you cooking the meat. Beetroot dressing: very very finely shred beets frying on the dripping pan, add tomato paste and little water. Cooking on low heat 30 minutes or while beets becomes soft.
  2. Cut large pieces of meat. If you found russian wife, she says what russian people not know about little pieces of meat. Anyone never heard anything about little pieces of meat. NEVER!
  3. Add meat to the broth. And cook this again.
  4. When your soup boils add chopped potatoes. When your soup not boils not add chopped potatoes, waiting. Add salt. Only now, not early.
  5. Then, if your soup come to a boil you must add shredded cabbage and wait when it come to a boil again. Cooking it 5 minutes.
  6. Add Beetroot dressing what you was cooking. And cook it another 10 minutes.
  7. Add fried onion and carrots. I think it's not very hard.
  8. Into finished soup add fresh greens and squeeze a clove of garlic.
  9. PROFIT!!!
